Cockatiels are native to Australia, where they are found largely in arid or semi-arid country, but always close to water. They are typically seen in pairs or small flocks. Sometimes, hundreds will flock around a single body of water.
Known for their ability to learn to speak, cockatiels also learn to whistle very well and can be extremely affectionate. Also, we all know that the smallest members of the cockatoo family are loud, but they don't have a loud screeching voice like other members of the family.
